Opinacraft
Platform where the Minecraft community can publish and rate servers based on quality, not vote rewards.
Overview
Opinacraft is a project I built so the Minecraft community could publish and discover servers in a cleaner and more useful way. Most server-listing sites focus on vote systems and reward mechanics to drive traffic. I wanted to build something different: a platform centered on server ratings and real user feedback.
The Challenge
The main challenge was product positioning.
- Category habits: Users were already used to vote-for-reward platforms.
- Acquisition friction: Without reward mechanics, getting consistent traffic was harder.
- Trust and quality: A rating-based model only works when enough users participate and leave useful feedback.
My Role and Approach
I built the product end to end, from the public experience to the data model.
- Stack: Built with Next.js, Convex, Cloudflare R2, and Tailwind.
- Core idea: Prioritize structured ratings and quality signals over pure vote volume.
- Experience: Keep publishing and browsing simple so server owners and players could use it quickly.
Key Highlights
- Different market approach: Focused on quality scoring instead of reward-driven voting.
- Community-first concept: Designed to help players find better servers through clearer information.
- Solid technical execution: The platform was fully functional and validated the core idea technically.
Reflection
In the end, the project did not get the traction I expected, and I probably will not continue it. Even so, I do not regret building it. It taught me a lot about product-market fit, distribution, and how difficult it is to change user behavior in an established niche.
