Opinacraft is a project I built for publishing and browsing Minecraft servers. Most server-listing sites use vote systems and rewards, so I tried a rating-based approach.
The Challenge
The main challenge was getting people to use a different model.
Category habits: Users were already used to vote-for-reward platforms.
Acquisition friction: Without reward mechanics, getting consistent traffic was harder.
Participation: A rating-based model needs enough users to leave useful feedback.
My Role and Approach
I built the product from the public interface to the data model.
Stack: Built with Next.js, Convex, Cloudflare R2, and Tailwind.
Core idea: Use structured ratings instead of only vote volume.
Experience: Keep publishing and browsing simple so server owners and players could use it quickly.
Key Highlights
Different approach: Used ratings instead of reward-driven voting.
Server pages: Created pages for server information and opinions.
Working product: Built and deployed a functional version of the platform.
Reflection
In the end, the project did not get the traction I expected, and I probably will not continue it. Even so, it helped me learn about product-market fit, distribution, and user behaviour in an established niche.
